Overview of the Childcare Lawyer position
We're delighted to be working with our Local Authority client to recruit a permanent Childcare Lawyer to their team. This is a brilliant opportunity for a qualified lawyer to join a busy but supportive team who get an interesting variety of work. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with some office attendance, usually twice a week depending on other work commitments.
Key responsibilities of the Childcare Lawyer
- To carry a varied caseload of childcare matters including NAI, sexual abuse cases, multi-issue cases and complex care proceedings
- To give guidance, mentor and give training to less experienced team members
Experience/qualifications required for the Childcare Lawyer position
- You must be a qualified Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX with Advocacy Rights) with a current practicing certificate
- Able to work on a hybrid basis with two days per week in the office depending on other work commitments.
- An ability to represent the local authority at court is preferred, or a desire to do so. Training is provided for court work if needed
- Able to work full-time hours, requests to work 4 days per week will be considered
- Experience of childcare law is highly advantageous, applicants from the private sector with transferrable skills will be considered
