This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified childcare lawyer looking for a fully remote role, offering the chance to join an established and supportive legal team while managing a varied and interesting caseload of public law children matters.
You will take responsibility for a busy caseload of care proceedings and pre-proceedings work, providing high-quality legal advice and ensuring cases are progressed effectively and in accordance with the relevant statutory framework.
Responsibilities will include:

- Handling a smaller number of pre-proceedings/PLO matters, advising social care colleagues and assisting with case planning and risk management.
- Providing clear, pragmatic and timely legal advice to social workers, senior managers and other professionals.
- Advising on issues relating to safeguarding, thresholds, permanence, care planning and the legal framework surrounding children in care.
- Drafting and reviewing statements, applications, orders, threshold documents, care plans and other legal documentation.
- Working closely with social workers, guardians, other professionals and external legal representatives to ensure cases are appropriately prepared.
- Progressing cases in line with court directions and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Undertaking remote advocacy and instructing Counsel for complex hearings.

- Previous experience of working within a local authority childcare/legal team.
- Strong experience in care proceedings and public law children work.
- Experience of pre-proceedings and PLO matters.
