We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for a Childcare Solicitor to join their team on a 6 month locum basis, with opportunities for extension past this. This is a full-time position with an hourly rate of £55 - £60/hour (Umbrella) and the start date is subject to notice. Office attendance for team meetings is required and court hearings where necessary, making this post ideal for candidates based in the Midlands area.
The role presents the opportunity to work on complex and meaningful cases impacting children's welfare. The successful applicant will join a collaborative and professional legal environment. The team benefits from a great deal of administration support, enabling solicitors to focus on the care cases.
Key Requirements:- Must be a Solicitor, Barrister, or FILEX with litigation accreditation.
- Candidates must hold a current practising certificate and have proven experience handling childcare law cases independently.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge of children's social care legislation, including:
- Care proceedings
- Pre-proceedings (PLO)
- Emergency protection orders
- Special guardianship
- Secure accommodation
- Deprivation of liberty
- Adoption
