Overview of the Property Lawyer role
Sellick Partnership is delighted to be partnered with Dover District Council on the recruitment of a Property Lawyer on a permanent, full-time basis. Due to continued growth, Dover District Council are seeking a Property Lawyer to join their Legal Services team, to provide high-quality legal advice and support to the Council, with a particular emphasis on social housing, shared ownership, and affordable housing transactions.
Key responsibilities of the Property Lawyer role
- You will provide legal advice on all aspects of property law within the local authority setting, with a strong focus on social housing and shared ownership, including but not limited to:
- Residential conveyancing matters including sales of council property and acquisitions, to include drafting and negotiation of the necessary documentation.
- Advising on commercial landlord and tenant issues, including drafting, negotiating and completing leases, licences and such other legal documents as appropriate.
Required experience for the Property Lawyer role
- A qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive, with current practising certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years' post-qualified experience in property law.
- Proven experience specifically within social housing, shared ownership and affordable housing matters.
- Experience working within a local authority, public sector, or similar in-house legal environment is advantageous.
