London Borough Council is looking for a Senior Contracts Lawyer to join a busy but friendly team. Our client is seeking an experienced Contracts Lawyer with extensive experience dealing with a variety of commercial contracts and procurement matters, ideally from a local authority background, but candidates with transferable skills are encouraged to apply. This opportunity is on a hybrid working basis, with a mandatory 2-day office presence required per week. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Contracts Lawyer who is looking to progress in their career and step up into a management role.
Key responsibilities of the Senior Contracts Lawyer:- Assist the Principal Lawyer with management of the team and carry a varied commercial contracts and procurement caseload.
- Deputise for the Principal Lawyer as required.
- Undertake a personal caseload of complex contract advice and agreement preparation work.
- Prepare complex or unique forms of contract, specialised agreements, and advise on matters of contract law.
- Introduce new procedures arising from new legislation and improvements in efficiency.
- Qualified Lawyer (Solicitor or Barrister) with at least 5 years PQE and a current practising certificate.
- Able to work on a hybrid basis with two days per week required in the office.
- Experience in commercial contracts and procurement; any sector will be considered, but previous local authority experience is advantageous.
- Recent supervision/management experience would be ideal, but our client is happy to consider candidates wanting to progress in their career.
