An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join a highly regarded and specialist Housing Management and Property Litigation team in Birmingham. This is an ideal opportunity for a paralegal looking to develop their career within a large, experienced team, working closely with Solicitors and building their own caseload across a varied range of housing and property litigation matters.

The Opportunity:

  • You'll work with a broad client base including Registered Providers, private landlords, local authorities, developers and other organisations, gaining exposure to a wide range of housing management and property litigation work.
  • Your workload is likely to include:
    • Possession proceedings relating to rent arrears, breach of tenancy, anti-social behaviour and unauthorised occupiers
    • Injunction proceedings and disrepair claims
    • Claims involving leaseholders, including forfeiture
    • Drafting claim forms, pleadings and witness statements
    • Preparing trial bundles and managing court paperwork
    • Liaising with Courts, Barristers, clients and other fee earners
    • Attending Court to support Barristers and Solicitors
    • Conducting routine County Court advocacy
    • Managing a busy caseload with multiple deadlines
    • Building and developing your own caseload with support from experienced Solicitors

About You:

  • Have a 2:2 degree or above
  • Have strong legal research and drafting skills
  • Ideally have completed the LPC or be studying it part-time
  • Have experience preparing pleadings and witness statements
  • Have excellent organisation, time management and attention to detail
  • Are confident dealing with clients and communicating clearly in plain English
  • Can manage a high-volume workload and work to tight deadlines
  • Are proactive, resilient and able to work with limited supervision
  • Ideally have experience with Registered Providers, private landlords or the County Court, although this isn’t essential
