Sellick Partnership are delighted to be recruiting for a Senior Contracts Lawyer to join a busy but friendly London Borough Council. Our client is looking for an experienced Contracts Lawyer who has extensive experience dealing with a variety of commercial contracts and procurement matters ideally from local authority but candidates with transferrable skills are encouraged to apply. This opportunity is on a hybrid working basis, with a mandatory 2 day office presence required per week. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Contracts Lawyer, who is looking to progress in their career and step up into a management role.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Contracts Lawyer:

  • Assisting the Principal Lawyer with management of the team as well as carrying a varied commercial contracts and procurement caseload.
  • Deputising for the Principal Lawyer as required.
  • Undertaking a personal caseload of the more complex contract advice and agreement preparation work.
  • Dealing with the preparation of complex or unique forms of contract, specialised agreements, advising on any matters of contract law and preparing other complex or unusual documentation.
  • Introducing new procedures, as required, arising from new legislation, and improvements in efficiency.

Experience/qualifications required for the Senior Contracts Lawyer position:

  • You must be a qualified Lawyer (Solicitor or Barrister) with at least 5 years PQE and a current practising certificate.
  • Able to work on a hybrid basis with two days per week required in the office, this role requires someone who is able to work full-time.
  • You must have experience in commercial contracts and procurement; any sector will be considered but previous local authority experience is advantageous.
  • Recent supervision/management experience would be ideal but our client is happy to consider candidates wanting to progress in their career.
