A well-established University in London is seeking a newly qualified Commercial Lawyer to join their small, friendly Legal team. Based in the heart of one of the UK\’s most successful business regions, the University has a wealth of experience in a number of disciplines and strong connections with key industries. The campus is in easy reach from central London, and the University has invested £50 million in facilities, creating an inspiring place to work and learn.
By joining their small in-house Legal team, you will be given incredible exposure to a range of legal work which you may not otherwise find in bigger, more compartmentalised teams. No two days are the same! This role would suit a motivated and personable individual looking to excel their career.
The successful candidate will have experience of reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts. While prior experience of working for a university is beneficial, it is not essential for the role.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage own portfolio of commercial contracts to include contract review, advice and guidance, negotiation and drafting
- Support the progression and management of Legal Contracts in the areas of: Academic Partnership Contracts, International Office, Research & Enterprise, Apprenticeships, Research Funding and Collaborative Research contracts, IT contracts, Library software, licensing agreements, Procurement, Marketing and Communications
- Draft legal agreements and letters; prepare, negotiate, and review academic partnership contracts, commercial and other contracts under supervision of the Head of Legal Services
- Liaise internally and externally with stakeholders
- Support Legal Services with administrative support.
