Sellick Partnership are delighted to be working with a well‑established local authority in London in their search for Chief Legal Advisor to join their team on a permanent basis. This role requires someone who can work full‑time and attend the office as much as possible (at least 2-3 days per week).
The responsibilities of the successful Chief Legal Advisor will be to:
- Working alongside the two other Chief Legal Advisors to manage the shared legal practice
- Manage a busy team with diverse legal specialisms
- Advise senior client officers and elected members
- Supporting and deputising for a Monitoring Officer for any of the boroughs
- Directly reporting into the Assistant Director of Legal and Governance and Director of Legal and Governance
- Motivate and help develop the team
Our client is seeking a Chief Legal Advisor who:
- Holds a current practising certificate (Barrister, Solicitor or CILEx)
- Experience from a local authority is advantageous; however, experience in other sectors will be considered, you must be a strong manager with knowledge of public sector governance
- The ability to work at pace and juggle competing priorities
- Dealt with governance matters previously
- Can attend the offices as and when necessary (usually around 2-3 days per week), as well as attending client meetings and committees as required
