Overview

Coroners Court Assistant – Locum – Full time – 3-month rolling contract – Β£20 – Β£25ph umbrella

Sellick Partnership are working with a well-regarded London Council to assist them in finding an Inquest Assistant to support their Coroner\’s Court.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative and support duties to the Coroner Manager and the Court
  • Assist in court by carrying out ushering/jury bailiff duties for inquests, mentions and other hearings
  • Manage the courtroom environment and the witnesses
  • Set up and check the court recording equipment to ensure it is working correctly prior to each inquest
  • Update the CIVIVA case record system where necessary to produce relevant court forms and documents
  • Assist with managing various Court and Coroner diaries and arranging meetings as the need
  • Ensure concluded inquest paper files are completed with final paperwork
  • To assist in other general admin duties as and when they might arise and adopting a flexible approach to cover when court may overrun

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Understanding of the law, policies, and procedures relating to the coroner service and the coronial jurisdiction
  • Ideally local government experience
  • Ability to attend the office frequently
