About the Childcare Lawyer role:
Sellick Partnership is proud to be working with a well-regarded Local Authority in Widnes. We are looking for a Childcare Lawyer to join the Legal Services Department at Halton Borough Council to provide support to services across the Childcare Legal Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an amazing legal team who are well connected in the North West region, through excellent transport links between Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and London. A current transformation project of the legal team means that it is an exciting time to join the council as they continue to develop and transform the delivery of legal services.
Key duties of the Childcare Lawyer:
- Handing a full caseload of childcare matters, providing advice on all aspects of public law children\βs matters
- Attending PLO and legal planning meetings
- Drafting documents, including statements and threshold agreements
- Non-accidental injury
- Exclusion orders
- Emergency protection orders
- Designation
- Deprivation of Liberty
- Judicial Review cases
- Undertaking civil advocacy and litigation work in respect of childcare matters
You will be an integral part of a professional legal team delivering legal advice and support to all aspects of the Council\βs services, you will be a positive and highly motivated person who is confident, versatile and innovative.
Ideal requirements of the Childcare Lawyer:
- The ideal candidate will have previous experience dealing with all Childcare matters in a Local Authority, including undertaking advocacy in childcare proceedings
- Will be an excellent co-ordinator
- Will be able to handle major business projects and have well-developed communication skills
- The ability to communicate effectively with officers internally, and externally with courts, barristers, and professional bodies is essential
- Local government experience is desirable, but we welcome applications from people from all parts of the legal sector
- You will be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister/FILEX with a current Practising Certificate
