Maybe you’re already in a Principal position, looking to expand your experience within a variety of exciting projects? Do you want to work as part of a collaborative, dynamic team of like-minded, talented professionals?

We are looking to appoint an exceptional Principal Civil Engineer to work across an array of projects within our experienced team in London. Working as an integral part of the team, you will play a key part in delivering major Highways/Public Realm and/or Infrastructure/Drainage projects (including Residential, Custodial, Healthcare, Education, Ministry Of Justice, Commercial, Leisure).

As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Civil Engineering leadership team in London, where you will produce technical designs, specifications and reports for a large variety of projects in terms of size, type, and complexity, both single discipline and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will mentor and manage your design sub-team (project programming and planning and resources), and have an active involvement with bidding, fee preparation and client meetings.

You will also have opportunities to achieve chartered status, with mentors and access to regular workshops and seminars tailored to signing off the core objectives as part of the chartership process.

About You

As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will play a lead role in shaping our offering, as part of a collaborative, talented team. Our ideal Principal Civil Engineer must have:

  • A degree or equivalent in civil engineering or a related subject, working towards a professional qualification
  • Experience managing Infrastructure schemes, as well as bespoke projects
  • Good knowledge of industry design software packages
  • Excellent communication skills and a team player with a confident, positive and enthusiastic attitude, able to lead a team to success
  • Ability to co-ordinate and contribute to bid preparation process including client presentation

It would be nice for you to have:

  • CEng with post chartered relevant experience or IEng with post incorporated relevant experience
  • Undertaking relevant CPD activities
  • A good understanding of forms of appointment and construction contracts
  • Confident liaising with new and existing clients and an ability to build a good rapport with other parts of our inter-disciplinary practice, and with external design teams
  • Robust problem solving skills, taking accountability for assigned work
  • The ability to lead a sub-team, focused on delivery of high quality design output.
