The Painter will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of painting and industrial coating tasks across the Sellafield site, ensuring all work is completed safely, to a high standard of quality, and in full compliance with site-specific nuclear, safety, and regulatory requirements.,

  • Carry out painting and industrial coatings on various tasks including office setting, pipe bridges, structural steel, concrete structures, masonry, tanks, bunds, roof areas
  • Read and interpret paint method statements, and specifications
  • Work within live and controlled environments, following strict permit-to-work systems
  • Ensure all work meets required quality, safety, and nuclear site standards
  • Comply with Sellafield Ltd policies, site rules, and behavioural expectations
  • Use hand and power tools safely and appropriately
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards at all times
  • Identify and report defects, hazards, and near misses
  • Work collaboratively with other trades, supervisors, and site teams
  • Support site inspections and quality checks when required

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all Health & Safety at Work regulations and Sellafield Life Saving Rules
  • Follow RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) at all times
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inductions
  • Maintain a strong nuclear safety culture and human performance standards
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting & Decorating
  • CSCS Skilled worker (Blue) card
  • Proven experience as a painter on commercial or industrial sites
  • Ability to work accurately from method statements and specifications
  • Strong understanding of health & safety requirements
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Ability to pass security clearance and site vetting

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience working at Sellafield or another COMAH / nuclear / regulated site
  • Experience working under permit systems
  • Awareness of nuclear safety culture or high-hazard environments
  • Experience of working with industrial coatings
  • Security clearance (SC or DV)
  • Current P4 pass holder
  • Monitored or Classified worker
