Job Purpose
Reporting into the Rail Systems the Commercial Controller responsible for supporting projects and bids within Rail.
Ability to manage the day to day commerical activities on all projects and bids.
Capable of working within a team and alone to deliver against agreed targets and objectives.
Ability to understand the suite of commercial contracts and work with the project teams to ensure the business deliveres against its commerically responsibilitites.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Detailed understanding of a broad suite of commerical contracts including NEC, JCT and the Network Rail Suite of contracts. – ability to support multitude of parrellel project contracts.
- Bid stage contract review support with detailed feedback on areas of Risk to the business and priced solutions.
- Estimating & bid support: develop/validate estimates (labour, materials, third party), pricing assumptions, contingencies, and estimating governance for tenders/variations.
- NEC & JCT commercial management: administer valuations/applications, ensure contractual compliance, support final accounts and commercial close-out.
- Change control process: support the commercial change process (registers, approvals, substantiation, audit trail) aligned to PMO governance.
- Early Warning & cost-risk leadership: support the NEC Early Warning process, quantify impacts, drive mitigation options, and maintain a commercially robust risk/contingency position.
- Supplier AFP / payment assessments: assess supplier applications for payment/AFPs against progress, substantiation, and contract terms; reconcile to earned value/deliverables and manage payment recommendations.
- Where applicable: Earned Value Management (EVM) / EVA management: implement earned value (PV/EV/AC), track CPI/SPI trends, integrate with forecasting (EAC) and provide corrective-action insight.
- Working closely with Projects, Procurement & Commercial Ensure compliance with all relevant Company Quality Assurance Procedures and current legislation / standards.
- Capable of preparing capturing requirements management and project change control.
- Support client relationships ensuring project stakeholder collaboration.
- Supporting the Project team in maintaining contract risk and opportunity plans and manage the associated contingency budgets.
- Attend stakeholder meetings where required.
- Management of Change both client and sub-contractor - to include contract reviews.
- Ensure all projects and bids have a commercial risk register and its managed accordingly.
- Commercial support for both Bids and Projects including clients meetings.
