We’re looking for an experienced, pragmatic Compliance Risk Lead to strengthen and scale Selina’s compliance and risk framework. As an FCA‑regulated digital lender, compliance sits at the heart of everything we do, and this role gives you genuine ownership of it; you’ll shape our second line of defence, build out our compliance monitoring programme, and act as a trusted adviser to teams across the business. This is a broad, hands‑on role in a fast‑growing fintech.

What you’ll be working on:

  • Own and deliver our Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP), building out second‑line oversight across the business, including complaints monitoring and quality assurance across underwriting, customer service and broker due diligence.
  • Lead horizon scanning for regulatory change, assessing the impact of new FCA rules and guidance and translating them into practical action across the business.
  • Own the policy framework: reviewing, drafting and gaining approval for policies, and keeping our compliance handbook up to date as processes change.
  • Develop and maintain the risk register and risk matrix: reviewing existing risks, identifying new ones, and driving mitigating actions with owners across the business.
  • Run onboarding and annual due diligence on suppliers, technology providers and partners, and strengthen our third‑party oversight, including broker quality and Introducer Appointed Representative oversight.
  • Review and approve financial promotions, providing compliance sign‑off and advising on product journeys, website content and partner materials.
  • Support fraud referrals, investigations and external reporting, and contribute to the handling and monitoring of FOS complaints.
  • Deliver compliance training across the business, creating engaging material on topics such as fraud and vulnerable customers.
  • Partner with Product, Growth, Legal and Credit on new commercial ventures, proactively researching the regulatory landscape at project inception to ensure compliant scoping from day one.

About you:

  • Solid compliance and/or risk experience within an FCA‑regulated consumer lending or mortgage business, ideally in second‑line roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of the FCA Handbook (e.g. MCOB, CONC, DISP, SYSC), Consumer Duty and the financial promotions regime.
  • Experience building and/or running compliance monitoring programmes, policies and risk registers; you know what good looks like and can implement it pragmatically.
  • Commercially minded and able to give clear, practical advice that helps the business move forward safely, rather than simply saying no.
  • A confident communicator who can influence stakeholders at all levels, from underwriters to the executive team.
  • Highly organised and self‑sufficient, comfortable managing a broad and varied workload, prioritising effectively, and taking real ownership in a fast‑paced environment.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in fintech, digital lending or second charge mortgages/products.
  • Experience overseeing Introducer Appointed Representatives.
  • Experience with fraud investigations, financial crime or complaints handling (including FOS).
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. CeMAP, ICA, CISI or equivalent).

What we offer:

  • £60,000 base salary, dependant on experience.
  • 25 days' annual leave, plus bank holidays.
  • 30 days’ work‑from‑anywhere allowance.
  • Bi‑annual Bonus (discretionary).
  • Volunteering allowance.
  • Growth Shares.
  • Annual L&D budget.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • 3% pension contribution.
  • Monthly socials.
  • Free access to mental health support via ‘Spill’.
  • A choice of benefits that work for you, courtesy of our benefits platform, ‘Thanks Ben’.
  • Annual £60 cycle allowance for Santander cycles or Evans (via ‘Thanks Ben’).
  • Workplace Nursery Benefit, allowing eligible nursery costs to be paid via salary sacrifice.

We are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to ensuring that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status, or race, or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements that cannot be shown to be justifiable. We also welcome and encourage applications from traditionally underrepresented groups and provide feedback to all candidates we interview, even if that feedback suggests another candidate may be a better fit for the role.
