About Selina

At Selina Finance, our mission is to provide exceptional value with simple and flexible financial products.

We’re achieving this by building a next-generation digital lender targeting homeowners across the UK.

More than £2tn of equity value is locked up in UK homes, while homeowners still need to rely on high-interest-rate consumer loans, credit cards, or overdrafts.

We believe this is unfair and unnecessary.

We offer a financing product unlike anything else out there, one that is as flexible as a current account, as affordable as a mortgage, and as easy to apply for as a consumer loan.

Job Description

We are building an incredible team and culture of high performance, development, reward and recognition, ready for the next phase of our adventure, and this is where you come in!

  • We have quite a few things to be proud of
  • 19 different nationalities across our London + Manchester offices
  • Voted as ‘one of the fastest-growing businesses in the UK’ by Business Leader Growth 500 for 2025
  • Voted top 30 of ‘Tempos 100 best start-ups to work for 2023’
  • Disability Confident Committed employer
  • BCorp Certified

About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced, pragmatic Compliance Risk Lead to strengthen and scale Selina’s compliance and risk framework.

As an FCA-regulated digital lender, compliance sits at the heart of everything we do, and this role gives you genuine ownership of it; you’ll shape our second line of defence, build out our compliance monitoring programme, and act as a trusted adviser to teams across the business.

This is a broad, hands‑on role in a fast-growing fintech.

One day you might be drafting a policy or reviewing a financial promotion; the next you’ll be horizon‑scanning for regulatory change, running due diligence on a new partner, or advising Product on a new customer journey.

You’ll work closely with our existing Compliance function and senior leadership, with real scope to define how compliance and risk management operate as we scale.

  • What you’ll be working on
  • Own and deliver our Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP), building out second‑line oversight across the business, including complaints monitoring and quality assurance across underwriting, customer service and broker due diligence
  • Lead horizon scanning for regulatory change, assessing the impact of new FCA rules and guidance and translating them into practical action across the business
  • Own the policy framework: reviewing, drafting and gaining approval for policies, and keeping our compliance handbook up to date as processes change
  • Develop and maintain the risk register and risk matrix: reviewing existing risks, identifying new ones, and driving mitigating actions with owners across the business
  • Run onboarding and annual due diligence on suppliers, technology providers and partners, and strengthen our third‑party oversight, including broker quality and Introducer Appointed Representative oversight
  • Review and approve financial promotions, providing compliance sign‑off and advising on product journeys, website content and partner materials
  • Support fraud referrals, investigations and external reporting, and contribute to the handling and monitoring of FOS complaints
  • Deliver compliance training across the business, creating engaging material on topics such as fraud and vulnerable customers
  • Partner with Product, Growth, Legal and Credit on new commercial ventures, proactively researching the regulatory landscape at project inception to ensure compliant scoping from day one
  • Job Requirements

About you

  • Solid compliance and/or risk experience within an FCA‑regulated consumer lending or mortgage business, ideally in second‑line roles
  • Strong working knowledge of the FCA Handbook (e. g. MCOB, CONC, DISP, SYSC), Consumer Duty and the financial promotions regime
  • Experience building and/or running compliance monitoring programmes, policies and risk registers; you know what good looks like and can implement it pragmatically
  • Commercially minded and able to give clear, practical advice that helps the business move forward safely, rather than simply saying no
  • A confident communicator who can influence stakeholders at all levels, from underwriters to the executive team
  • Highly organised and self‑sufficient, comfortable managing a broad and varied workload, prioritising effectively, and taking real ownership in a fast‑paced environment
  • Nice to Have
  • Experience in fintech, digital lending or second charge mortgages/products
  • Experience overseeing Introducer Appointed Representatives
  • Experience with fraud investigations, financial crime or complaints handling (including FOS)
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e. g. Ce MAP, ICA, CISI or equivalent)

What we offer

  • £60,000 base salary, dependant on experience
  • 25 days' annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • 30 days’ work‑from‑anywhere allowance
  • Bi‑annual Bonus (discretionary)
  • Volunteering allowance
  • Growth Shares
  • Annual L&D budget
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • 3% pension contribution
  • Monthly socials
  • Free access to mental health support via ‘Spill’
  • A choice of benefits that work for you, courtesy of our benefits platform, ‘Thanks Ben’
  • Annual £60 cycle allowance for Santander cycles or Evans (via ‘Thanks Ben’)
  • Workplace Nursery Benefit, allowing eligible nursery costs to be paid via salary sacrifice

Our Values

  • Take Ownership
  • We all act as owners.

We make decisions in the best interest of the company.

We pride ourselves on solving problems, not finding barriers.

We have a bias for action; we move fast and we deliver.

  • Customer Obsessed
  • We put our customers at the heart of everything we do. We listen to their needs and work tirelessly to provide them with the best possible products and experiences.
  • Drive Change
  • We are pioneers in our industry.

We are not afraid to challenge the status quo and we constantly seek out new and better ways of doing things.

We are agile and adaptable, and we embrace change as an opportunity for growth.

  • Empower Our Team
  • We believe that collaboration and teamwork are the cornerstones of success, and we set up our team for great achievements.

We are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to ensuring that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status, or race, or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements that cannot be shown to be justifiable.

We also welcome and encourage applications from traditionally underrepresented groups and provide feedback to all candidates we interview, even if that feedback suggests another candidate may be a better fit for the role.
