A Bit About The Role
This is your chance to become part of the Selfridges sustainability team, pioneers in sustainability. The Sustainability Coordinator: Sustainable Products & Materials will play a key role in supporting the materials agenda, working with key stakeholders across our brands and internal buying teams to support the growth of our sustainable products and materials.
- Product Claims And Material Validation
Own key ‘more sustainable’ materials data and verification process. Ensure our 'more sustainable’ products meet our required sustainability criteria. Maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with key legislation. Support the Responsible Sourcing Manager to expand the definition of ‘more sustainable’ products at Selfridges. Support the Responsible Sourcing Manager to increase the identification and capture of ‘more sustainable’ brands and/or products. Act as a source of knowledge and support the internal communication teams on ‘green claims’.
- Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with key stakeholders - internal buying and retail teams, as well as Selfridges Group. Build and maintain strong relationships with our brands to ensure sustainable products align with our sustainable edit criteria. Be the point of contact for queries relating to sustainable products and materials, including prohibited materials flags within the business. Create and update key guidance packs (internal and external) to support the delivery of key initiatives. Liaise with key membership institutions to support the delivery of our materials agenda.
- Support Internal Systems, Processes And Reporting
Help build and improve systems and processes to support the delivery of key initiatives. Support internal communication, data tracking and return-to-vendor process. Support the Responsible Sourcing Manager with data compilation, monthly reporting and brand outreach. Support the development and logistics of internal learning modules. Administration relating to all initiatives including setting up meetings, raising purchase orders and taking meeting notes. Research a range of sustainability topics to support the delivery of key projects.
- Preferred A bit about you
Undergraduate degree in Sustainability, Fashion, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science, or related field. Experience in sustainability and material sourcing. Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint).
- Desirable
Experience of reporting and project management. Experience working in product development, buying, or sustainability, ideally within fashion or luxury retail. Experience in sustainability certifications and standards relating to apparel and textiles. An awareness of the legislative landscape, specifically relating to green claims.

Highly motivated with a passion for product and materials within apparel and textiles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. A collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong working relationships. Influencing skills to champion the work carried out by the sustainability team.
