This role is a mostly office-based role, with an expectation of 3/4 days per week in the office to support collaboration, project delivery, installations and stakeholder engagement across stores and sites. Flexibility to support and manage overnight installations is required as part of the role to ensure successful delivery of window schemes and instore activations.

The role is responsible for leading the build development and installation of bold, innovative and technically excellent window schemes and instore built environments across Selfridges stores, ensuring creative ambition is translated into operational excellence.

Role Scope

This is a crucial team role for an experienced project manager with retail build experience, leading the development of the Selfridges brand windows and instore built environments. Responsible for coordinating and managing project delivery including budgets, stakeholder management, team leadership and communication across all project phases. Requires 5+ years’ experience delivering creative projects in live retail environments and balancing operational complexity with creative ambition. Drives innovation through sustainable production methods, materials, technologies and supplier partnerships.

Managing Projects Detail
  • Own project delivery from concept design through final installation across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Lead on planning, budgeting, procurement and delivery activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, F&LS requirements, CDM regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Create project briefs for windows and instore activations including atriums and Dolly’s Café to tender out to our contractors.
  • Manage budgets through robust financial controls and benchmarking.
  • Maintain project governance, documentation and snagging processes.
  • Prepare presentations and project updates for stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Communication
  • Lead internal production teams and external consultants, suppliers and contractors.
  • Manage direct reports including Senior Producers and wider production support teams.
  • Support resource planning and manage change effectively.
  • Act as an ambassador for collaboration, accountability and high standards.
Research, Innovation & Production Development
  • Research new production methods, materials and technologies.
  • Develop supplier relationships and identify specialist partners.
  • Benchmark competitors and industry trends.
Installation, Operations & Health & Safety
  • Coordinate suppliers and contractors onsite and sign off completed works.
  • Manage complex installation schedules and resolve live issues quickly.
Key Competencies & Experience
  • Advanced project management experience within retail build, creative production or experiential environments. (Experience in luxury retail or live retail environments preferred.)
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations, F&LS legislation, CDM requirements and the RIBA process.
  • Experience managing medium to large-scale retail fit-out and creative build projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
  • Commercial awareness and strong problem-solving capability.
  • Experience managing suppliers, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Line management experience.
  • Practical installation and production knowledge.
