As a Design Coordinator, you will deliver multiple brand projects from concept to delivery.

To do this you will support the business and Store design team by creating plans and guidelines, using CAD.

You will manage brand design projects to deliver the best design led outcomes for sites.

You will support the Store Design/ Property Team, and Buying Team in all Retail Planning and Design related matters to deliver best in class solutions for all stores by:

  • Ensuring the effective Design Coordination of projects through the entire design, from concept development through to delivery
  • Assisting the senior Design team in preparation for Design related meetings and/or presentations to the Board/Executive and Directors
  • Be part of a design team delivering world class retail experiences
  • Manage collation and production of compartment/department design guidelines always seeking the best design and commercial opportunities.
  • Provide some CAD support when required to support wider team
  • Co-ordinate and liaise with other key contacts eg M&E projects, Facilities, Project Management Office
  • Regularly present design concepts to the Selfridges directors for approval
  • Conduct brand design briefings as required with the support of the Project Manager and Buying team
  • Manage the Approvals of brand shopfit projects through concept and detailed design stages:
  • Concept: Ensuring projects adhere to Selfridges’ Masterplan and Store & sustainable guidelines
  • Liaise with brands throughout concept, detail, and design phases through to project completion
  • Detail: Sign off detail design packages for installation
  • Ensure timely and sufficient design information is passed to Project Manager and internal teams for the project delivery
  • Participate in post-project reviews and design analysis
  • Manage the evolution and communication of key Selfridges’ design specifications – eg cash desk and fitting room templates
  • Ensure designs meet or exceed defined quality standards and compliance with requirements of legislation and/or external authorities
  • Work to defined project timescales and be conscious of budgets, with clear communication to key stakeholders on project progress
  • Carry out site visits during project installation period
  • Encourage design innovation and creativity through research trips. Always be willing to ask questions and challenge ideas
  • Maintain communication plan for the design stage of projects
  • Liaise with and inform the internal Property Department, Retail Operations Department, B & M Department, Visual Merchandise Department, Graphics as well as external brand design teams on project status and design development
  • Support retail planning function with capacity studies, fixture evaluation, and supporting on the writing of a Selfridges retail brief.
  • How you’ll do it…you will demonstrate
  • In depth knowledge of Autocad, Adobe creative suite Indesign & Photoshop and Microsoft office suite
  • Other design related packages an advantage: Sketchup, Cinema 4D, or similar packages an advantage
  • Innovative and highly commercial design approach – able to develop and implement new ideas in cost effective ways
  • Excellent design oversight, with good attention to detail
  • Solution focused and creative thinker, with a passion for design, and sustainability within design
  • Good communication and presentation skills

  • Good interpersonal, communication and relationship skills
  • Resilience and ability to work under pressure on many diverse projects
