About the Role
We are a long-established family run company based in North Somerset providing grounds maintenance services to a wide range of clients in both the public and private sector across the Southwest. Due to the upcoming retirement of our Senior Contracts Manager, a position has become available, and we are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Contracts Manager to work with our existing management to oversee the delivery of multiple grounds maintenance contracts. This role would require you to ensure that contracts are delivered safely, profitably, and to a high standard, while supporting excellent client relationships and managing operational teams.
Initially, you would work closely with our other Contract Managers with a view to taking over the management of contracts and staff. Once this has been achieved, we would like you to provide an oversight as to how you see our company works and deliver ideas as to how you think we can change and improve our existing operations using your experience working for larger organisations.
We have a loyal and experienced workforce many of whom have been with us for many years. There is an ethos of friendship and respect within our company.
Our main operating HQ is in North Somerset and although the position is going to involve a lot of remote working, regular visits to HQ for management meetings will be both helpful and important. You will also need to learn how we operate largely using the Reflow App and our own quotation system. We have a good modern way of operating, but we are keen to continue to improve our systems, and we hope successful applicants' experience will bring new ideas to the table. There are a lot of opportunities for sustainable growth within our existing client base, and we have a good stock of young employees coming through the system.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee multiple grounds maintenance contracts from mobilisation through to completion
- Ensure all contracts meet performance, quality, health & safety, and environmental standards
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong working relationships
- Monitor budgets, control costs, and ensure contracts are delivered within agreed financial targets
- Lead, support, and performance-manage supervisors and operational teams
- Prepare and review contract documentation, variations, and extensions
- Carry out regular site inspections and audits to ensure service delivery standards are met
- Identify opportunities for service improvement, efficiencies, and contract growth
- Resolve operational issues, customer complaints, and contractual disputes effectively
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, company policies, and industry best practice
- To work with the existing management team ensuring a complete knowledge of all operating procedures.
