We are looking for a Personal Assistant to support our client on family outings and in and out of the home. Our client is a 9-year-old boy with autism. Applicants must have a caring attitude, be patient, and be physically able to manage an active 9-year-old, who likes to be out and about. Being on time is important as family outings can take a lot to organise, and once the children know they are going out, we need to be ready to go.
Working with an autistic child requires you to be positive and flexible in your approach to work. Having experience supporting nonverbal, autistic children would be useful; however, full training on our client’s specific communication and understanding will be ongoing. There will also be times where our client will go out without his family with your support.
Duties & Responsibilities included in this role are:
- To keep our client safe and entertained on family outings and in and out of the home.
- Personal care assistance; our client is double incontinent and uses pull-ups.
- To play alongside our client.
- To help support our client with drinks, food, and snacks.
Applicants must have a caring attitude, a good sense of humour, be reliable, and have a positive and flexible approach to work. Having experience within this area would be of benefit. This role requires an enhanced check through PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) where you will be asked to provide a copy of your certificate to your new Employer for their records.
