We are looking for a personal care assistant to our client who is a 19-year-old woman with cerebral palsy, learning disabilities and is a wheelchair user. You will be supporting our client with going out in the community and helping her to take part in activities/hobbies. These may be attending youth groups, swimming, ice skating, going shopping or out for lunch. The successful applicant would also suggest some other fun activities.
There will be some personal care involved in this role. Our client has a mobility car so being a driver would be preferred but non-drivers will still be considered. As our client is a wheelchair user, who also uses hoists for transfers, a good level of fitness is essential.
There is also the possibility for more hours, which may be discussed with the successful applicant. Applicants must have a caring attitude, have a good sense of humour, be reliable with a positive and flexible approach to work. Having experience within this area would be of benefit. Training on hoist can be given if needed.
This role requires an enhanced check through PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups).
