Overview
Our client is a 6-year-old male with Autism and delayed speech who requires routines to be followed and not interrupted, such as the sequence of putting on a seat belt. The child may have moments of distress and may run when distressed; safe handling and keeping him safe is required. Some personal care is required. Distractions help to avoid distress, but body language can indicate how he is feeling.
Responsibilities
- provide care and support to the child in daily routines and activities
- supervise and ensure safety; respond to distress; safely catch and keep safe if he runs
- assist with personal care as needed
- collect from school and take to a club on Thursdays
- support active engagement in activities the child enjoys (car, bus, train, colouring, stickers, park, soft play)
- be consistent with routines (e.g., putting on a seat belt) and follow the established sequence
Qualifications / Requirements
- confident, directive when needed, with a good sense of humour, reliable, flexible and patient
- PVG enhanced check required
- a valid driver’s licence is preferable
