The Hartlepool site manufactures and distributes specialist aroma chemicals to customers across the UK and internationally.

The Opportunity

Natara Global is looking for an experienced Shipping Clerk to join its Hartlepool team on an initial six-month fixed-term contract.

You will be responsible for preparing accurate shipping and export documentation, ensuring products reach global and intercompany customers safely and on time.

The role involves coordinating international shipments by air, sea and road, including the transportation of dangerous and hazardous goods.

You will work closely with the Packaging and Despatch, Customer Service and wider Logistics teams, as well as freight forwarders and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare all documentation required to ship aroma chemicals worldwide by air, sea and road.
  • Ensure shipping paperwork complies with customer Incoterms and the customs requirements of each destination country.
  • Follow applicable dangerous goods and hazardous material regulations, including IATA, ADR and IMDG.
  • Prepare Dangerous Goods declarations and supporting documentation.
  • Book shipments and arrange collections with freight forwarders and couriers.
  • Work closely with the Packaging and Despatch team to ensure goods and paperwork are ready for shipment.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service to support on-time delivery and highlight potential delays.
  • Share shipment details and completed documentation with internal teams and customers.
  • Prepare full shipping document sets to support customs clearance and customer payments.
  • Use courier systems such as DHL and Fed Ex to create labels and arrange the shipment of smaller packages and samples.
  • Provide shipping cost estimates and obtain freight quotations.
  • Complete additional export documentation, including Certificates of Origin, EUR1, FDA and Cargo X documentation where required.
  • Arrange import clearance and delivery into Natara’s UK sites when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all shipping activity meets statutory and regulatory requirements.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience within shipping, logistics, freight forwarding or import/export.
  • Experience preparing international shipping and customs documentation.
  • Knowledge of transporting dangerous or hazardous goods.
  • IATA, ADR and IMDG training or practical working knowledge would be highly advantageous.
  • Understanding of Incoterms and international customs requirements.
  • Good general IT skills and experience using courier or freight-booking systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good communication, organisation and time-management skills.
  • A proactive, positive and customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while using your own initiative.
