Do you want to lead the sustainability agenda for a major UK construction business across an entire region? Are you ready to take ownership of strategy, delivery, and influence at every level, from site teams to senior leadership? We're working on a confidential basis with a highly successful, nationally recognised business to appoint a Sustainability Manager to lead the sustainability function across their East region. This is a rare opportunity to shape sustainability strategy at both project and business level for a business with a strong forward order book and a genuine commitment to responsible construction.

The Role

  • Reporting into Regional leadership, you'll take ownership of sustainability performance across the East region's business and projects.
  • Your remit will include:
    • Project input across both pre-construction and construction phases
    • Setting sustainability strategy at project and business level
    • Managing the Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) process
    • Driving sustainable performance across all areas of the business
    • Acting as an ambassador for sustainability, internally and externally, including in business development and industry forums

The role is based across the East region, with a requirement for one day a week in each office and regular site visits.

What my client is looking for

  • Built environment experience β€” either from a consultancy background or from within a main contractor
  • Previous experience on large or medium-scale projects
  • Knowledge of WLCA standards and methodologies
  • Familiarity with UKNZCBS, NZCiO, LETI and UKGBC guidance
  • Experience with Passivhaus, NABERS or BREEAM across bid and delivery stages
  • Confidence presenting to a range of stakeholders, from work-winning to regular reporting
  • The ability to lead and influence a professional team of consultants
  • A relevant environmental/sustainability qualification is desirable but not essential β€” evidenced experience matters more

What's on Offer

A highly competitive salary and benefits package, reflective of experience β€” full details will be discussed with shortlisted candidates. This is a confidential search β€” for a full briefing and to discuss in complete confidence, please get in touch with Emma.
