Select are working with a long-established manufacturer in Norwich recruiting a hands-on Manufacturing Supervisor to lead a team across electrical and mechanical machine assembly operations. You'll be responsible for ensuring production meets safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets while driving a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee assembly of machinery, sub-assemblies, and electro-mechanical units to engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and build specifications
- Monitor workflow and production schedules to ensure on-time delivery
- Enforce quality standards; conduct in-process inspections and support root-cause analysis
- Maintain compliance with ISO, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Lead and motivate the manufacturing team; conduct daily briefings and allocate workload
- Support training, upskilling, and competency assessments across the team
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, standard work, waste reduction)
- Champion safety culture; ensure risk assessments, method statements, and equipment checks are current
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
- Coordinate with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality to resolve constraints
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing or electro-mechanical assembly environment
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly practices
- Proven ability to lead and develop production teams
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods
- Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- HNC or NVQ Level 4 in an Electromechanical discipline
Desirable:
- HND/NVQ Level 5; Lean/Six Sigma qualification; IOSH Managing Safety
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Background in low-volume, high-complexity or precision machinery builds
Personal Attributes
Adaptable, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to build strong cross-functional relationships. A genuine drive for continuous improvement is essential.
