Are you the person everyone turns to when the tech needs to actually work, and the one who can see where it should be going next? Have you played a lead role in an ERP implementation and want the chance to shape a business’s whole technology agenda, from cyber security to AI? If you’re nodding along, I’d love to talk to you.
I’m working with a long-established, specialist engineering and manufacturing business in Norwich that I’ve recruited for many times over the years. They’re in an important period of growth, and they’re now looking for an IT & Digital Transformation Manager to take ownership of their IT, digital transformation and information security agenda.
This is a genuinely broad role, and it suits someone who’s equally happy writing a five-year strategy as rolling up their sleeves to sort out a user’s access issue. You’ll be the go-to person for technology across the business, working with internal teams and specialist third-party partners to turn business needs into secure, reliable and cost-effective solutions.
What you’ll be doing:
- You’ll create and deliver a five-year IT and digital strategy, backed by annual roadmaps, budgets and clear objectives, reporting into the Senior Leadership Team and Board.
- You’ll be a lead member of an established WinMan ERP project team, leading key workstreams such as process mapping, data migration, testing, training, cutover and post-go-live improvement across CRM, shop-floor data capture, reporting and enquiry-to-invoice.
- Day to day, you’ll own the reliability and security of networks, servers, Microsoft 365, endpoints, cloud services and manufacturing systems, managing upgrades, backups, disaster recovery, licences and joiner/mover/leaver processes.
- You’ll lead the cyber security programme and work alongside the QHSEI Controller to maintain their established ISO 27001 ISMS, including audits, risk treatment and continual improvement.
- You’ll also manage the IT budget and suppliers, and build a practical, well-governed AI roadmap, moving from controlled pilots to responsible rollout.
What you’ll bring:
- You’ll have a lead role on an ERP implementation or major systems project under your belt, ideally in manufacturing or engineering, along with solid experience running day-to-day IT services, outsourced partners and cyber controls.
- Hands-on involvement in an ISO 27001 framework is important, as is strong Microsoft 365 and identity/endpoint knowledge.
- You’ll be commercially confident with suppliers and budgets, methodical, calm under pressure and great at bringing people with you.
- A degree, higher apprenticeship or equivalent experience is ideal, and WinMan, shop-floor data capture or responsible AI experience would be a real bonus.
What’s on offer:
- You’ll get a great salary plus a profit-related bonus, 24 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (with a few taken over the Christmas shutdown) and your birthday off.
- There’s also salary sacrifice pension and EV schemes, cycle to work, study support, a benefits portal with a 24/7 GP and wellbeing support, long service and staff recognition awards, and free parking.
- Above all, it’s a real chance to shape a business’s technology future during a period of growth.
The role is based on site on the outskirts of Norwich, with some flexibility needed for out-of-hours upgrades and occasional travel.
