Are you an experienced motor engineer looking to move away from site visits and focus purely on desktop assessment work? We're recruiting on behalf of an established name in automotive engineering services.

This role sits within a busy desktop engineering team, handling a broad mix of vehicle types and case complexities entirely from a remote setting - no fieldwork required.

What the Role Involves
  • Working from images, estimates and supporting reports, you'll take ownership of the full engineering assessment process:
    • Making repair vs. total loss decisions
    • Confirming correct repair methodology in accordance with manufacturer and Thatcham guidance
    • Reviewing estimates and negotiating cost adjustments where needed
    • Signing off repairs within set SLA windows
    • Valuing vehicles and applying the correct salvage category under ABI guidelines
    • Liaising with repairers and other parties to agree final costs and settlement figures
    • Keeping all engineering decisions compliant with relevant industry and regulatory standards
What We're Looking For
  • Solid background in motor engineering; prior desktop-based experience is a bonus, not a deal breaker
  • Comfortable working with estimating software such as Audatex, GT Motive, Glassmatix or Escribe
  • Good grasp of Thatcham repair standards and OEM requirements
  • A commercially minded approach - you know how to balance quality repairs with cost control
  • Confident handling your own case-load, hitting KPIs and SLAs
  • Clear, persuasive communicator, comfortable negotiating with repairers and other stakeholders
  • Strong with numbers and comfortable producing clear written reports
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office
Essential Accreditations
  • ATA VDA qualification
  • AQP / Salvage Categorisation certification
  • IMI membership is desirable but not essential
