Location: Felixstowe

Working hours: Full time Permanent, Mon-Fri 08:00-17:00 (1 hr lunch)

Salary: £24-32k DOE

We are looking for a motivated and organised Maintenance Controller to join our client’s busy team in their Felixstowe depot. In this key role, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of their truck rental fleet, ensuring vehicles remain safe, fully compliant, and ready for hire. You will coordinate repairs, liaise with suppliers and workshops, and proactively manage downtime to maximise fleet utilisation and keep the operations running smoothly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate all planned and reactive maintenance across the fleet
  • Liaise with workshop, suppliers, and engineers to arrange repairs and servicing
  • Monitor vehicle downtime and work to minimise disruption to operations
  • Ensure all vehicles meet legal and compliance standards (e.g. MOTs, inspections, servicing schedules)
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activity and costs
  • Work closely with operations and rental teams to ensure vehicle availability
  • Handle breakdowns and organise roadside assistance where required
  • Support continuous improvement in fleet performance and maintenance processes

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a maintenance, fleet, or transport coordination role (preferred – however trainees with the right skills and attitude will be considered)
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
  • Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and compliance requirements (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels
  • Proficient in IT systems and experienced in accurate record-keeping
  • Proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • A team player with a flexible and adaptable approach
