Electrical Designer – London | Permanent | £60k-£80k
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on, end-to-end design role where you will be involved from early concept through to completion. You will collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and installation teams, playing a central role in delivering high-quality electrical solutions across a range of commercial and industrial schemes. No two projects are the same, and you will have the chance to make a real impact on every one of them. Salary is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
What You Will Be Doing
- Producing electrical designs, schematics, and detailed layout drawings for commercial and industrial projects
- Undertaking lighting and small power designs in line with current regulations and client specifications
- Completing cable calculations, load assessments, and circuit schedules
- Ensuring all designs comply with IET Wiring Regulations and all other relevant standards
- Collaborating with clients, consultants, and other disciplines to deliver fully coordinated design solutions
- Compiling technical submissions, design specifications, and supporting documentation
- Providing technical guidance and support to installation and commissioning teams on site
- Representing the business at design coordination meetings and client-facing discussions
What We Are Looking For
- A proven track record as an Electrical Designer or Design Engineer within commercial building services
- Strong knowledge of electrical design standards and building services systems
- Confident use of AutoCAD and electrical design software including Amtech and Relux/Dialux
- A solid understanding of lighting design principles and energy efficiency standards
- The ability to read and interpret architectural and mechanical drawings
- A natural communicator who works well with others and can juggle multiple projects simultaneously
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
- City & Guilds 18th Edition (BS 7671) – desirable
- Additional design or CAD qualifications would be advantageous
