Position: Security Assistant / Front-of-House Asset Protection

The Opportunity

Do you excel at customer service, love engaging with the public, and take pride in protecting priceless assets? As a key member of the Asset Protection team, you will:

  • Be the Face of the Library: Combine strong front-of-house customer service skills (reception/security) with a friendly, welcoming approach for visitors and staff.
  • Protect Priceless History: Ensure the building remains secure and maintain high safety standards for all staff and public guests.
  • Be the First Line of Defense: Act as an essential member of the emergency response team in the event of incidents like fire or flooding.
  • Support the Wider Team: Pitch in flexibly across tasks and assist with special projects across affiliated libraries when needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Customer-Centric Mindset: Passion for interacting with members of the public and building strong working relationships with staff.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a Security position with strong customer service skills essential.
  • Flexibility & Reliability: Ability to work a 3-shift rota pattern to cover opening hours: Mon–Fri: 05:45 – 19:30 (extended to 22:15 during Easter term), Saturday: 07:45 – 17:15, Sunday: Shift hours TBC (Sunday opening coming soon).
  • Adaptability: Willingness to cover occasional Bank Holidays, out-of-hours events, and be listed on the emergency call-out rota.
  • Team Spirit: A dependable, proactive team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
