Our client, a well-established property services business, is looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join their growing team based in Bicester. The role covers a broad and varied portfolio β€” from large-scale projects through to minor works and repairs β€” across PFI Hospitals, Local Authority properties, Social Housing and Listed Buildings. They are keen to speak with professionals who are commutable to Bicester from within Oxfordshire, Greater London, Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Buckinghamshire or Bedfordshire.

The Role

  • You'll provide professional advice on property and construction matters, completing detailed reports, specifications and building surveys, identifying defects and advising on repair, maintenance and remedial options.
  • Project management forms a core part of the role, alongside liaising with clients and contractors, chairing meetings and representing the business in client-facing settings.
  • Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
    • Advising clients on schemes, determining requirements and preparing designs with costings and programmes
    • Organising tender documentation and advising on contractor appointment and procurement routes
    • Defect analysis β€” assessing the condition of existing buildings and producing proposals for repair
    • Advising on building maintenance, property legislation, building regulations and health and safety
    • Carrying out feasibility studies
    • Project management from inception through to completion

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent
  • RICS qualified or working towards chartership
  • Post-graduate experience in a similar role
  • Strong IT skills with an analytical mindset
  • Knowledge of fire risk assessments would be advantageous

This role involves a significant proportion of time on site rather than at a desk, with occasional out-of-hours client commitments and some overnight travel required β€” all expenses covered.

  • Β£50,000 – Β£60,000 depending on experience
