Select Offshore is an industry leader in Renewables, Offshore and Marine recruitment. We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Payroll Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end payroll operations for both our internal staff and contractor workforce. You'll manage a team of Payroll Administrators, ensuring accurate and timely processing of multiple payroll cycles across international markets.
What will you do?
- Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and mentor a team of Payroll Administrators, providing ongoing training, guidance, and performance management.
- Drive team efficiency and foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and service excellence.
- Act as a point of escalation for payroll queries or issues within the team.
- Internal Payroll
- Oversee the processing of internal employee payroll, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and company policies.
- Liaise with HR admin and Finance to ensure accurate data capture for new starters, leavers, bonuses, benefits, pensions, and statutory payments.
- Reconcile payroll reports and ensure timely submission of PAYE, pensions, and other statutory returns.
- Contractor Payroll
- Oversee the contractor payroll process managed by the team, ensuring accuracy across multiple international jurisdictions.
- Ensure timely payment to contractors and accurate generation of remittances, timesheet processing, and margin reporting.
- Ensure compliance with IR35 and international payroll legislation as relevant.
- Collaborate with recruitment teams to resolve contractor queries and maintain a high level of service.
- Systems & Compliance
- Maintain and enhance payroll systems and processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency.
- Ensure all payroll processes comply with internal controls, audit requirements, and GDPR regulations.
- Partner with Finance, HR on audits, system upgrades, and legislative changes.
What are we looking for?
- Proven experience in a payroll role, ideally with exposure to both internal and contractor payrolls.
- Strong leadership or supervisory experience in a payroll or finance team.
- Thorough understanding of UK payroll legislation; knowledge of international payroll regulations is a plus.
- Experience with payroll software (Xero ideally), and strong Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality and data protection.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
