On behalf of a UK client, we are looking for a Second Engineer. Applicants must hold a UK passport or UK work permit.
Role Overview: The Second Engineer is responsible for supporting the Chief Engineer in the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of all vessel machinery and technical systems. This includes propulsion, power generation, hydraulic jack-up systems, and mission-critical equipment used in offshore windfarm maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chief Engineer with the daily operation and maintenance of all engine room and technical systems
- Take delegated responsibility for machinery spaces, including periods as the senior engineer on watch
- Oversee maintenance and repair of:
- Main engines and auxiliary engines
- Generators and electrical distribution systems
- Hydraulic systems, including jack-up legs and lifting equipment
- HVAC and hotel services systems
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Certifications:
- STCW III/2 – Second Engineer Officer (Unlimited or Limited depending on vessel class)
- Valid STCW basic safety training certificates
- ENG1 (or equivalent) medical certificate
- Designated Security Duties (DSD) certification
- Relevant UK work eligibility
- DP Maintenance and High Voltage
- Proven experience as a Second Engineer
- Previous offshore experience jack-up vessels
- Experience with:
- Diesel-electric propulsion systems
- High-voltage systems (desirable)
- Hydraulic and jacking systems (highly desirable)
- Familiarity with DP vessels
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Good leadership and team management abilities
- High level of safety awareness and compliance
- Ability to work under pressure in offshore conditions
- Effective communication and reporting skills
