On behalf of a UK client, we are looking for a Master SDPO. Applicants must hold a UK Passport or UK Work Permit.

Role Overview

The Master SDPO is responsible for the safe navigation, station keeping, and overall command of a self-propelled jack-up vessel engaged in offshore wind farm maintenance operations. The role combines traditional vessel command with advanced Dynamic Positioning (DP) operations, ensuring safe and efficient execution of maintenance activities in UK offshore environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume full command of the vessel, ensuring compliance with all maritime laws, UK regulations, and company policies
  • Operate and oversee Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems in accordance with DP class requirements
  • Ensure safe jacking, positioning, and stabilization of the vessel at offshore wind turbine locations
  • Coordinate closely with offshore project teams, technicians, and clients during maintenance operations
  • Maintain safe navigation in congested and restricted offshore wind farm areas
  • Oversee bridge operations, passage planning, and watchkeeping standards
  • Ensure all safety management systems (SMS) and permit-to-work systems are adhered to
  • Lead emergency response efforts and drills onboard
  • Manage and mentor deck officers and bridge team members
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping, reporting, and compliance documentation
  • Liaise with port authorities, marine coordinators, and offshore installation managers (OIMs)

Key Requirements

  • Master Mariner (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency (CoC) (STCW II/2)
  • Valid DP Unlimited Certificate (Nautical Institute or equivalent)
  • Previous command experience as Master or Chief Officer SDPO
  • Strong understanding of offshore wind farm operations and safety requirements
  • Experience working in UK or North Sea waters preferred
  • Valid ENG1 (or equivalent seafarer medical)
  • Up-to-date STCW certifications
  • Must hold UK Passport or a UK Work Permit
  • Offshore wind farm maintenance or installation projects
  • Jack-up vessel operations (jacking procedures, leg penetration analysis, etc.)
  • Experience with major DP systems (e.g., Kongsberg, Rolls-Royce)
