On behalf of a client, we are looking for a Second Officer DPO. Applicants must hold a UK passport or UK work permit.

Role Overview: The 2nd Officer / DPO is responsible for maintaining safe navigation, supporting Dynamic Positioning (DP) operations, and assisting in offshore wind farm maintenance activities. The role ensures compliance with maritime regulations, safe vessel operations, and efficient execution of maintenance campaigns on offshore wind installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Navigation & Watchkeeping: Maintain a safe navigational watch in accordance with COLREGs and company procedures. Plan and monitor voyages, including passage planning for UK offshore operations. Ensure all navigational charts and publications are corrected and up to date (ECDIS & paper where required). Monitor weather, tides, and sea conditions, particularly for jack‑up and maintenance operations.
  • Dynamic Positioning Operations: Operate and monitor DP systems during maintenance and positioning activities. Assist in DP watchkeeping as a certified DPO in accordance with IMCA guidelines. Conduct DP system checks, trials, and fault finding. Maintain DP logs and records accurately.
  • Jack‑Up Operations Support: Assist the Master and Chief Officer during jacking and preloading operations. Monitor seabed conditions, leg penetration, and stability parameters. Support safe positioning alongside or near wind turbine structures.
  • Wind Farm Maintenance Support: Coordinate with offshore project teams, technicians, and client representatives. Assist with vessel positioning for safe transfer of personnel (via gangway or CTV interface). Maintain clear communication with turbine structures and control centers.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with UK maritime regulations, MCA requirements, and company SMS. Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and permit‑to‑work systems. Act as a safety leader onboard, promoting a strong safety culture. Assist in emergency response duties (e.g., fire, man overboard, DP failure scenarios).
  • Cargo & Deck Operations Support: Assist Chief Officer with deck operations, lifting plans, and cargo securing. Monitor deck activities related to maintenance equipment and spares. Ensure safe use of lifting equipment and adherence to LOLER regulations.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintain logs, reports, and records (navigational, DP, safety). Assist with audits, inspections, and client reporting requirements. Ensure compliance documentation is accurate and up to date.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Essential: STCW II/1 or II/2 Certificate of Competency (OOW minimum).
  • Valid DP Operator Certificate (Full DPO preferred).
  • Experience on DP vessels (ideally DP2 or DP3).
  • Previous offshore experience, preferably in wind farm or construction support.
  • Valid STCW certifications (BST, Advanced Fire Fighting, etc.).
  • ENG1 Medical Certificate.
  • Must hold a UK passport or a UK work Permit.
  • Experience on jack‑up vessels or offshore construction vessels.
  • Familiarity with offshore wind operations and turbine access systems.
