Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable Mobile HGV Technician to join our growing team based in west Bromwich . This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled technician looking for a well-paid, Monday-to-Friday role with some weekend work.
Working in a mobile capacity, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing HGV trailers at our sites, ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
Responsibilities
Assist experienced technicians in diagnosing faults using schematics and technical manuals
Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a range of HGV trailers
Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently
Conduct routine inspections and safety checks
Respond to breakdowns when required
Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations
Complete job reports and paperwork accurately
Learn to perform routine maintenance tasks on heavy vehicles and equipment, including excavators and forklifts
Support fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly work for vehicle components and parts
Use hand tools, power tools, and equipment repair techniques to carry out repairs efficiently
Help with electrical system troubleshooting and electrical component replacement
Participate in the inspection of vehicles for safety compliance and operational readiness
Contribute to the upkeep of workshop cleanliness, safety standards, and accurate record-keeping of repairs and maintenance logs
Diagnosing faults using the latest diagnostic equipment
Completing MOT preparation work
Ensuring all work is completed to DVSA and company standards
Maintaining accurate job records and documentation
Working both independently and as part of a team
Skills
Basic mechanical knowledge with an interest in heavy vehicle systems
Familiarity with electrical experience, schematics reading, welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and equipment for assembly and repair tasks
Knowledge of maintenance procedures for heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts
Strong customer service mindset when interacting with team members or clients on-site
Willingness to undertake heavy lifting safely and follow safety protocols at all times
Good communication skills with an eagerness to learn technical skills related to vehicle repair
