Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Trainee Design Engineer to join our team in Harlow. This role involves assisting with the design and layout of sprinkler, wet riser, and dry riser systems for large-scale commercial projects across London and the surrounding areas. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers while developing their knowledge of fire protection systems and industry standards.

Full on-the-job training and support will be provided to help the successful candidate develop their skills and understanding of relevant standards such as BS EN 12845, BS 9990, and BS 9251.

The Role

  • Assist with the preparation and completion of bespoke fire protection drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Support the completion of hydraulic calculations to ensure system efficiency and compliance.
  • Coordinate with other building services and external design teams.
  • Carry out site surveys for design and installation purposes.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure designs meet project requirements and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • A strong willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to work full-time from our Harlow office.

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software.
