Duties
The Battery Test Operations Team is part of Powertrain Test Operations within Product Engineering Operations.
The team maintains productive test workflow for HV Battery development at our internal test labs at ABE Lyons Park (Coventry) and Bat Lab (Gaydon), delivering high quality electrical characterisation and performance data at cell, module and pack level.
The team also supports HV battery activity at other internal JLR sites and External test facilities.
The Battery Test Senior Technician role will support our internal facilities to ensure that productive output is maintained to ensure we deliver quality test data to our internal customers / partners.
Will be responsible for facilitating specialist equipment, providing and maintaining common standard operational processes, and will seek to optimise operational capability through regular involvement in continuous improvement activities.
You will be required to become highly proficient in the operational and maintenance requirements of battery test equipment and instrumentation and will lead and support the associated reporting and issue resolution activities.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Start, stop, running, monitoring and shutdown of any test schedules assigned to them.
- Communication of test chamber status via status and utilisation documents.
- Rectification/diagnosis of issues, engagement of test engineers where needed.
- Identification/acquisition of appropriate test scripts from battery test engineers.
- Creation of internal work instructions and local process documents.
- Conduct test setup activities; Material handling, rig fabrication, rig assemble, test instrumentation, HV & LV electrical connections and cooling connections.
- Proposals to support test plan modification based on results.
- Carry out any work or job cards assigned by their supervisor.
- Fabricate and assemble jigs from technical drawings ready for test installation.
- Install/uninstall test components into chamber.
- Build cooling rigs to provided schematics.
- Support area 5s activities.
- Carry out and support health checks on UUT.
- Ensure all tooling is within calibration and raise non-compliance with supervisor.
- Responsible for working within and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Update CCAR with any facility and project issues.
- Aid in material handling activities.
- Attend training courses to ensure personal development.
- Support Training of peers to Technician Level.
- Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.
