Select Control Systems Ltd is looking for an experienced Principal Control Systems Engineer to join our team in Washington. This is a senior hands-on role for an engineer who can take ownership of industrial electrical control system design from customer enquiry through to complete bill of materials and working drawings for production and test. You will also provide technical leadership to the wider engineering team and help ensure engineering output is robust, commercially sound, and delivered on time.

What you will be doing:
- Taking customer requirements from enquiry through to completed design packages
- Producing electrical schematics, layouts, harness drawings and bills of materials
- Leading engineering activity and supporting other engineers with technical guidance
- Ensuring designs are safe, compliant, technically correct and commercially practical
- Managing customer requirements, technical queries and project communication
- Producing quotes and supporting the commercial side of project delivery
- Creating and controlling technical documentation, calculations, reports and manuals where required
- Supporting production, testing, commissioning activity and occasional site visits
- Helping prioritise engineering workload and improve standards across the team
What we are looking for:
- At least 10 years of industrial electrical control system design experience
- Strong background in control panels and electrical CAD drawing
- Experience leading or guiding an engineering team
- Strong customer facing experience and confidence handling technical discussions
- Experience producing quotations and specifying components
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and customer specifications accurately
- Good understanding of machinery control systems
- Strong attention to detail, accountability and pride in getting things right
- Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience
- Must live in the UK and have the right to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Professionally registered as IEng or CEng
- PLC software or commissioning experience
- Functional Safety knowledge or qualifications
- HNC or degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
