Due to increased work and sustainable growth, we are looking for a junior engineer to come in and join our team for long term training and education to become an experienced engineer. SCS has been trading for more than 20 years, building strong and enduring relationships with customers and suppliers. To be successful, you will have:
- An understanding of electrical and electronic principles
- An awareness of how components work
- An ability to identify electrical circuit symbols and what they mean or how they operate
- An understanding of simple circuits like a stop/start circuit
- An awareness of customer and safety standards and ISO requirements
Role: At Select we require a person with keen work ethic, desire to learn, and ability to adapt to evolving technologies and new customer demands. This role will take you through training, on the job learning, experience of differing customer requirements and how to interpret different styles of drawings, from line diagrams, to schematics, BOM’s and cable lists.
Our intention is to teach you to become self-sufficient interpreting customer requirements, and able to quote them accurately, before designing and producing wiring diagrams and supporting documentation to allow our wiremen to complete build suitable control panels. We will cover CAD packages, BOM creation and part selection, Lines and Symbols, Numbering, cross referencing, Circuit design, Safety design and certification, CE marking, Cyber Security, Mechanical design for panel layouts, bracket and steelwork drawings and some mechanical design.
This role combines industrial electrical engineering, with control system design, with project management and would suit a motivated, organised and ambitious person.
Person: Our ideal candidate would be a recently graduated apprentice with an HNC/HND with strong results, who has experience within the control systems industry, either through panel build, testing, commissioning, maintenance or otherwise. This role will be constantly evolving to meet the demands of the business, from production engineering on bulk repeat orders, to bespoke 1 off control panels for extreme edge case functions. Other apprenticeship/working paths will be considered depending on experience.

- Salary relating to the junior/training nature of this role (£30-35K)
- 26 days holiday annually

Experience & Qualifications:
- Essential IT literate and can use MS365 suite such as Outlook, Word and Excel
- Good communication skills both to mentors but also to customers and potential clients
- Level 3 engineering or technical qualification or relevant experience

Knowledge of CAD systems and understanding of how ERP/MRP systems work.
