We’re looking for an experienced and commercially driven individual to join our growing team as an SMR Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys leading high‑performing teams, driving sales growth, improving profitability, and delivering excellent customer outcomes within a fast‑paced, target‑driven environment.
As the SMR Manager, you’ll play a key role in leading and developing the SMR function, taking ownership of team performance, conversion rates, commercial profitability, partner relationships, and overall channel performance. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure the SMR channel delivers sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and an excellent customer experience. This role combines strategic commercial ownership with hands‑on sales leadership, meaning you’ll remain actively involved in supporting complex deals, improving processes, and driving team performance through strong leadership and coaching.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, coach, and develop the SMR sales team to achieve and exceed revenue, conversion, and profitability targets.
- Create a high‑performance culture with clear accountability, development plans, and regular performance reviews.
- Set and manage KPIs across conversion rates, revenue, margin, customer experience, response times, and compliance standards.
- Analyse sales performance, commercial data, and profitability trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Own the commercial performance of the SMR channel, ensuring sustainable and scalable profit growth.
- Identify and improve friction points within the customer and sales journey to improve conversion and operational efficiency.
- Remain actively involved in selling and supporting complex, high‑value, or escalated deals.
- Manage relationships and SLAs with SMR providers and external partners to ensure agreed standards are met.
- Work collaboratively with Finance, Operations, Marketing, Technology, and senior stakeholders to support wider business objectives.
- Ensure all activity complies with FCA regulations, internal governance requirements, and company policies.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across processes, customer outcomes, and overall channel performance.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience managing and developing sales teams within automotive, leasing, financial services, or other regulated environments.
- Strong track record of driving sales growth while protecting profitability and margin performance.
- Experience managing commercial partnerships and SLA‑driven relationships.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to analyse KPIs, conversion data, and sales trends.
- Confident balancing leadership responsibilities with hands‑on sales involvement.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and people leadership skills.
- Comfortable working within a fast‑paced, target‑driven environment.
- Good understanding of FCA and compliance requirements within a regulated environment.
- Strong organisational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Confident using CRM systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
