Are you a natural hunter who thrives on turning a cold introduction into a signed contract? And do you want a genuine seat at the table, shaping the growth of an ambitious engineering business, rather than just chasing this month's quota?
If so, we'd love to hear from you.
The Opportunity
Our client is a well-established and rapidly growing business within the UK electrical engineering and power infrastructure sector. As part of an ambitious growth strategy, they are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to build and lead new business activity across the UK power, energy and infrastructure markets.
This is a genuine new-business hunting role. Success will be measured on qualified opportunities generated, orders secured and profitable revenue delivered β not on activity alone.
What You'll Be Doing
- Proactively identifying and developing new customers across transmission and distribution, DNOs, ICPs, renewables, BESS, data centres and major infrastructure programmes
- Building relationships with decision-makers across Tier 1 contractors, EPCs, OEMs, developers and engineering consultants
- Developing opportunities ahead of formal tender, securing RFQs and converting these into contracted, profitable orders
- Building structured account plans for strategically important customers
- Owning and maintaining an accurate, credible sales pipeline through to contract award
- Supporting BidβNo Bid decisions, tender strategy and commercial negotiation alongside the Commercial and Engineering teams
- Reporting weekly on pipeline, order intake and market intelligence directly to the CEO and management team
What's On Offer
- A fantastic basic salary with genuine high earning potential through a KPI-focused bonus structure
- Car allowance
- A pivotal, high-visibility role reporting into senior leadership
- Genuine influence over the direction of a business in an active growth phase
- The opportunity to shape strategic account development from the ground up
About You
- Proven track record in business development or sales, ideally managing complex, long-cycle B2B opportunities
- A confident, credible communicator able to engage senior decision-makers and technical stakeholders alike
- Commercially astute, target-driven and comfortable owning a significant pipeline
- Sector experience within high-voltage electrical engineering, power, utilities, renewables, BESS, data centres or major infrastructure would be a strong advantage β but a proven hunter mentality and genuine ambition to grow into the sector will also be considered
- Willing and able to travel throughout the UK
