We're looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join a small, hands-on engineering team. This is a genuinely varied role covering the full product development cycle - from early concept work through to production release. You'll be involved in 3D CAD design, prototype builds, manufacturing drawings, and day-to-day collaboration with production, quality, and supplier teams.
What you’ll be doing:
- Producing 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings for large assemblies (sheet metal, plastics, piping, and electrical harnesses)
- Maintaining and managing design documentation and Bills of Materials within a PDM system
- Supporting engineering change processes and product lifecycle management
- Liaising with sheet metal suppliers on drawings and technical requirements
- Building and evaluating physical prototypes
- Working cross-functionally with production and quality teams
What we’re looking for:
- Degree or technical qualification in CAD, drafting, or a related engineering discipline
- Strong relevant experience (or equivalent combination of experience and training)
- Proficiency in SolidWorks; SolidWorks PDM experience is a plus
- Knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes is desirable
- Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently
Why this role? The team is small, which means real ownership and involvement across the whole process - from concept brainstorming to production line support. If you enjoy variety and want your work to have direct impact, this is a strong fit.
