About the Opportunity
Select Recruitment is proud to be working with a well-established catering organisation to recruit an enthusiastic and capable Assistant Manager for their Bar and Restaurant operation. This is an excellent opportunity to support the smooth running of a vibrant, community-focused venue while working closely with the General Manager to maintain exceptional service standards. This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced hospitality professional ready to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager with day-to-day operations of the bar and restaurant
- Lead shifts and supervise the bar team, ensuring excellent customer service at all times
- Assist with training, mentoring, and motivating team members
- Undertake basic food preparation duties
- Manage stock control, cellar management, and supplier coordination as required
- Help plan and deliver events, entertainment nights, and member functions
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, food hygiene, and licensing regulations
- Handle customer queries, concerns, and feedback professionally and effectively
- Step into the General Manager's role during absences, maintaining continuity of service and standards
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within hospitality, bar, or club settings
- Strong communication and leadership skills with a hands-on, can-do attitude
- Proven ability to manage staff, resolve conflicts, and work effectively within a team environment
- Sound knowledge of bar operations, licensing laws, and stock/cash handling procedures
- A genuine interest in building positive relationships with members and guests
- Strong track record in the catering sector
Desirable Qualifications
- Personal Licence Holder (or willingness to obtain)
- First Aid, Food Safety, or Health & Safety training
- Experience organising or supporting events and promotions
