We're recruiting on behalf of a specialist manufacturer based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. This is a hands-on toolroom role supporting production by maintaining, repairing and manufacturing tooling and machine components to tight tolerances.
The role includes:
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on a range of precision tooling
- Operating manual milling machines, lathes and surface grinders
- Reading, interpreting and working from technical drawings
- Collaborating and supporting with the production team
- Playing a part in ongoing improvements to tooling and processes
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience as a toolmaker or precision machinist in a production environment
- Strong knowledge of toolroom equipment and practices
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work to deadlines
- Commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering or toolmaking (desirable)
