Operations Officer

Location: Hellaby, Rotherham

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per year (negotiable for an outstanding candidate)

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Thursday 8:00 am – 3:30 pm, Friday 7:00 am – 2:30 pm

About Us

Select Alloys & Materials Ltd is a family run business specialising in the purchase and sale of Nickel and Cobalt based superalloys, primarily for the aerospace and industrial gas turbine industries. Our materials are destined for re-melting into high spec components used in investment casting, and we also trade refinery grade scrap metals across a global network.

The Role

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Operations Officer to support the smooth and efficient running of our business operations.

This full time position involves a mix of logistics coordination, documentation, compliance support, and general operational administration. You\'ll work closely with the Works Manager and General Manager to ensure shipments, export paperwork, audits, and maintenance schedules are all handled accurately and on time.

The role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills who enjoys variety, responsibility, and contributing to continuous improvement across a busy industrial environment.

What You\'ll Be Doing

  • Arranging and tracking transport for incoming and outgoing materials
  • Obtaining freight quotes and ensuring all export documentation is correct and complete
  • Communicating with customers regarding shipments and dispatch updates
  • Liaising with the Works Manager to keep production and logistics information up to date
  • Preparing dispatch paperwork, invoices, and annex forms
  • Scheduling and tracking staff training, equipment servicing, and LOLER inspections
  • Assisting with audit preparation for ISO, Health & Safety and financial compliance
  • Supporting the General Manager with ad-hoc operational projects
  • Helping to develop and support stock control processes as the role grows

  • Prior experience working within the Nickel and Cobalt Superalloy industry in an administrative role

Other valuable experience includes:

  • Knowledge of export and shipping documentation
  • Familiarity with ISO, Health & Safety or compliance systems
  • Experience scheduling maintenance, training or inspections
  • A practical, hands-on approach and ability to manage multiple priorities
