SELDOC is seeking an exceptional and accomplished NHS leader to join the organisation as Head of Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is a significant senior leadership opportunity for an experienced operational and service transformation leader with a proven track record of delivering high-quality NHS services within complex urgent and emergency care environments. Based at one of London’s busiest acute hospital sites, the successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership for SELDOC’s Urgent Treatment Centre services, ensuring the delivery of safe, responsive, and high-performing patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visible and effective leadership across all aspects of UTC operational delivery.
- Ensure services consistently reflect SELDOC’s core value of Patient First.
- Deliver UTC services safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual KPIs, quality standards, and agreed financial frameworks.
- Lead continuous improvement programs to support the timely management and discharge of Type 3 patients, with a strategic focus on achieving two-hour turnaround performance while maintaining resilience against demand surges and operational pressures.
- Maintain and further develop a high quality service capable of sustaining a CQC rating of Good or above.
- Foster a high performing, values‑driven culture that promotes accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and professional excellence.
- Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with Emergency Department leadership teams, commissioners, and wider health system stakeholders.
- Support innovation, transformation, and service redesign initiatives aligned to the future direction of urgent and emergency care.
The successful candidate will bring substantial senior management experience within NHS operational services, alongside demonstrable expertise in performance improvement, people leadership, stakeholder engagement, and service transformation.
Qualifications:
- Qualifications in and/or evidence in planning and implementation of healthcare strategy.
- Appropriate level and period of service delivery leadership in an urgent care organisation of at least the same size and complexity, in a similar role.
