Selby Jennings are partnering with a global commercial insurer to appoint a Senior Marine Pricing Actuary into a central pricing function supporting their international business. This role sits within a highly visible actuarial team working closely with marine underwriting leadership across a globally diversified portfolio. The position combines hands‑on pricing work with broader portfolio analysis and strategic insight, providing strong exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence pricing decisions across multiple regions.
You will support underwriting teams across a range of marine products including cargo, hull and related specialty risks, providing pricing input on complex accounts and helping ensure pricing approaches remain technically robust and commercially aligned. Alongside deal‑level pricing work, the role will involve analysing portfolio performance, carrying out profitability reviews, and identifying trends that help inform underwriting strategy and portfolio management decisions.
Working closely with regional pricing teams, analytics functions and underwriting leadership, the role will also contribute to improving modelling approaches, strengthening data quality and enhancing pricing insight across the portfolio. The position offers regular engagement with senior management and requires the ability to translate detailed actuarial analysis into clear commercial recommendations.
Role Requirements
- Qualified actuary (FIA or equivalent)
- Experience within marine insurance in a pricing or reserving capacity
- Strong actuarial modelling and pricing analysis capability
- Experience working closely with underwriting teams in a commercial environment
- Strong stakeholder communication and relationship management skills
- Experience working across international or multi-regional insurance portfolios advantageous
- Strong technical toolkit including advanced Excel and experience with data tools such as SQL or Python
