The Director of Bond Syndicate will report directly to the Head of Bond Syndicate within the Capital Markets division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Focus on SSA Syndicate and MTNs.
- Manage relationships with SSA issuers and drive mandate origination.
- Oversee the MTN function, contributing to business growth and benchmark issuance.
- Execute SSA bond deals, including marketing strategy, roadshows, allocation, pricing, and hedging.
- Generate deal ideas and collaborate with the Syndicate team.
- Shape SSA strategy and drive market share growth with the SSA DCM Origination team.
- Lead the MTN platform, delivering trade ideas and maintaining close sales/trading dialogue.
Context of Job:
The Markets division handles all financial markets activities, including money markets, FX trading, credit trading, commodity derivatives, interest rate and FX options, corporate and FI sales, and Capital Markets. Its main purpose is to provide professional financial services to help clients achieve their financial goals. The DCM Syndicate Desk, based in London, executes and distributes debt securities for clients, including SSA, FI, Corp, ABS, MTNs, and the company's own issuance. The desk has seen significant growth, managing increased volumes and a wider product suite.
Job Requirements:
- Implement global strategy, business goals, and financial targets.
- Maintain operational effectiveness of processes and controls.
- Demonstrate competency and complete necessary training annually.
- Assist the Head of Bond Syndicate in aligning team culture with the company's vision.
- Stay updated on Eurobond market developments and provide thought leadership.
- Prepare regular pricing updates for key sectors.
- Communicate regularly with customers, providing fair and clear advice.
- Engage in internal marketing to build and maintain client base.
- Originate and structure transactions, and execute awarded bond mandates.
- Drive market share growth in SSA mandates, arbitrage funding, and MTNs.
- Consider all client and product opportunities to enhance delivery and development.
- Recommend underwriting of transactions to the Head of Bond Syndicate.
- Act as liaison between clients and transaction/product teams.
- Manage day-to-day desk operations.
- Communicate regularly with Sales to stay informed of investor trends and activities.
Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:
- Market Risk & Risk Management
- Regulatory Policy
- Financial products: interest rate swaps, cross currency swaps, CDS, etc.
- Bond syndication experience, ideally SSA-specific
- Extensive Origination & Trading experience with a proven track record
- Communication across a matrix organisation
- Strong IT skills, including systems and Excel/pricing and analysis systems
- Strong risk management awareness and application
- Awareness of Compliance developments related to Bond Syndicate
- Knowledge of Markets' internal products and businesses
